This works quite nicely for everybody involved I think, it should get done now, but the White Sox might be looking at getting healthy and trying to climb back in it so….I wonder what these numbers look like in 10 weeks. Giolito probably goes down some, Kelly, could he climb up to zero? Basabe & Montgomery could both climb, or both fall, or one climb and one fall?
I think the Rays would have a problem with the money owed to these guys, particularly Kelly.
Sure, that might be a concern, as always, but given their performance so far this year, they may be more willing to dip into the wallet. They gave up a ton (Joe Ryan) to get Nelson Cruz when they were “going for it” and even made a big offer to Freddie Freeman, so perhaps this might be another opportunity to fill a clear need and invest in a championship run.
Definitely possible, but I think it’s more likely they search the bargain or pre-arb bin for relievers. Love the idea of adding Giolito or Cobb though.
