I think this a well thought out trade. Arizona is taking a chance on the young Brewers reaching their high ceiling but if they do this is a big win for them long term. The shortstop trade off favors the Brewers if Arcia’s bat doesn’t improve but he has at times shown his potential to hit is much better then his current results. Ray is not the stopper the Brewers need but will be the left handed starter that should be a good fit at Miller Park at a favorable salary. If Burnes pitches like his 2018 results next season, then Arizona has replaced Ray and the trade probably favors Arizona even in the short term.
