The Brewers say no to the Red Sox once again. If Milwaukee was to trade two TOR like Burnes and Woodruff, they need to get good, controlable SP in return. The pitching returning to them here is far too weak to even consider this proposal. Houck is still out and wasn’t that great before he got hurt (5.05 ERA/ 12 ERs in his last 24 IPs). Whitlock has regressed every year. Right now he’s no more than a swing man with the minor leagues (5.60 ERA/4.80 FIP/ 10 more hits than IPs). The Brewers aren’t going to throw away Adames, Burnes and Woodruff just to rid themselves of Yelich’s contract, especially the way he’s been playing this year. Plus Milwaukee doesn’t give away $30M in any deal. The Brewers could do much, much better dealing with multiple teams.
