Brewers say no thanks. Baty is a disappointment this year as he continues to struggle at the big league level (.207/.279/.589/neg dWAR/neg WAR/30% K rate). Milwaukee would like to have him, but they aren’t in a position to trade pitching for him. They are going to lose so much pitching this year and next, they have to get good, MLB ready pitching in return. The Mets don’t have the young pitching to trade that the Brewers would need when they part with Burnes. Vasil is young but has struggled so badly at AAA, he isn’t anywhere close to helping next year. Milwaukee wants nothing to do with McNeil and his contract. They are trading Burnes because of money, so they don’t want to take on that kind of money for McNeil.
