Cubs don’t have enough pitching to give away Lester as negative value.
Cubs can’t give up Bryant either.
Cubs giving up two front line players for 2 scrap players is not realistic.

If your goal was to destroy the Cubs, I applaud you, but don’t worry, the Reds are going to kick them in the buttocks this year, again 🙂

Cubs want to stay under the luxury tax. Trading Lester allows them to go out and sign a Rendon, Cole, or Strasburg (or get Donaldson and MadBum). Bryant is suing the Cubs for service time manipulation and I doubt he resigns in two years, plus Epstein is smart enough to trade him and not just let him walk. Diaz provides cheap bullpen help and Lowrie is able to mentor Hoerner at 2nd while also filling in at 3rd if they don’t pursue a FA option.
