For the Indians to trade a controllable starter as good as Mike Clevinger, they would have to be overwhelmed by the offer. This does not do that.

Giving up 3 years (and expensive ones at that) for pre-arb of arguably one of the top prospects in all of baseball isn’t overwhelming?

Pache would be an absolute steal for Cleveland.

No, it’s not an overwhelming offer to a competitive team and not even to a rebuilding team.
Clevinger is a known quantity and a relatively rare one at that.
Pache is a blue chipper all the way, but has proven nothing and is still 2 years away from the majors, a lot can change in 2 years, look at Urias in San Diego.
Clevinger is a Cy Young quality starter under control at a bargain price for that type of talent for three years.
It’s 3 years of known high quality productivity for 6 years of potential.
        Hardly a steal.

NateDub, You just like to make ridiculous comments just to pick a fight with me. 79.1 for a prospect that has yet to prove anything in the majors is not overwhelming when compared to a top of the rotation starter 82.5. Perhaps you need to take classes again in basic math and baseball knowledge.

Geezzzz guys…I just threw this out there to get a feel for Clevinger’s worth from Indian fans using TRADE VALUES numbers. I too think it would take more to get Clevinger. On a side note, I’ve been a Braves fan since they came to the ATL and even I think Pache is overated, even though soon he will be a ML gold glove center fielder. I think Waters is the better of the 2 Braves prospects, but that’s just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions….How bout it Indian fans, what would it take to move Clevinger? If at all…. What are Cleveland’s needs?

    • E Schwarz

I agree that Waters may well be the better prospect of the two.
If the Braves ask for Clevinger, the Indians will ask for Albies,so you can see no trade would be imminent.

      • TAS .....

I agree, there will be no trade as the Braves would never trade Albies.

I don’t see the Indians trading Clevinger at this time. Cleveland’s front office is very good. They will listen on any player. They will set their price and not vary from it. The package would have to help Cleveland in 2020 and for the future. Starting pitching is their strength and they need to score more runs so bats would fill their biggest needs. I don’t see the Indians doing anything this offseason on any player unless totally overwhelmed by the offer. They would more likely trade Corey Kluber, but I think they will wait on him as well to see if he can regain his form thus increasing his value.
