Hudson seems to be the main piece that STL will send to COL if this deal happens, according to several sources.

Offloading Carpenter’s deal would require two controllable pieces being sent back to Colorado, in the form of two very skilled young players that simply lacked opportunities in O’Neill and Knizner.

If a deal gets done, I believe this is the most probable way it happens.

I agree, with the caveat that the opt-out would likely need to be negotiated out, most likely with another year tacked on at the end.

There’s no way CO is going to take on Carpenter’s contract when the prospects coming back don’t include Gorman. Zero percent chance.

I know this website wouldn’t accept this, but Arenado/Desmond for Gorman/Hudson is realistic.

So sub in Gorman in one of these proposals. Carpenter would only be included to offset the money, which is a real issue, as you know. There’s a lot to work out, including the opt-out and the money.

I did and the values in your system show it would be a major, major overlay by the Cards.

I don’t think the Rox would take on any salary. I think they’d want to send salary with Arenado.

Well, you and I have a rich history of disagreeing on trades!

John, for some reason I can’t reply to your last comment.

Yes, we have a rich history disagreeing on trades! Keeps it fun!

I do not think Cards will trade any of their immediate arms unless they sign a new arm. They will rather trade lower minor leaguer like Ivan Herrera, Zack Thompson or even Matt Liberatore who has 2 or 3 more years to get ready for MLB along with Fowler or Carpenter for payroll relief. There is no point that Cards will rather weaken their lineup by trading N.Arenado
