Very fair, i’d argue it’s as much about getting Darwinzon and Barnes to replace Hader in the pen. Its still a loft price to pay for Betts and I’d imagine the Brewers don’t view Cain as a negative asset so you could remove the cash, Henry and maybe Garcia from the deal but Hader Turang Peralta Cain is still a lot of talent for one year of Betts even with two controllable backend arms included.

I like the idea of including 22 year old Hernandez in the trade. I was surprised you included Turang and not Lutz but I imagine you needed the extra value going back to Boston to even the trade values. As you said, no matter which trade scenario is used, it’s a lot to give up for Betts. However, other teams are going to offer good players so a package like ours is probably necessary for Boston to even consider. Very improbable the Brewers even participate in an attempt to get Betts. But it was fun trying to come up with something possible.

Yeah I doubt the Brewers are interested since its a bit of a miss match. I do think this package would lock up the division since Hader/Peratlta to Barnes/Darwinzon isn’t a steep decline and Betts to Cain is a big big upgrade. Fun idea tho I didn’t even think about Betts to Brewers before your trade.
