With Yanks having SP issues Boyd becomes a valued starter in more than likely “short” season. He is also under contract for three years. If Tigers acquire two Ps and two OFs there is no room for Demeritte.
From Detroit side, Frazier should be a starter and Florial will go to AAA, Schmidt could make the bigs and Gil would be at AAA. All four players should make the bigs in 2022 when the Tigers should be a contender.

Yeah your evaluations of Florian Gil are a bit much in terms of where they start. Florial hasn’t even played AA yet Gil only has a few games in A+
As for Schmidt he could start in the majors but there’s no reason to waste a year of service time unless you’re a team like the Yankees with such an immediate team and the Tigers are in no rush.

Also by the time the season starts Paxton will be in the rotation so Boyd isn’t as necessary as he might have been

Do you make this trade if you are Cashman of Yanks?

Or do you make this trade if you are Avila of Tigers?

      • Karl Ozolins

In terms of value it’s worth it for the tigers. I can see people saying they don’t want Frazier because he only has 4 years left but if he’s given a chance his value could go way up if he produces and could trade him in the off season. Considering he’s not the main piece it’s worth the risk.
As for the Yankees I’d be just as happy to see Schmidt pitch and let the other players prospects value possibly increase but besides Schmidt the other players are surplus and strengths for the Yankees farm or team, it depends on how high they are on Schmidt

I think that the Tigers could get a better deal for Boyd so they would say no. They need bats more than pitching. Also Florial value has dropped as he has struggled at high A. They could find a better package that would better fit their needs than this one in my opinion.
