This midseason trade is designed to give the Dodgers a huge advantage in the playoffs. The RS pick up almost all the players’ salaries for good prospects. The RS get to stand under the luxury tax, good prospects, and most importantly screw the Yankees. The Dodgers would get be great WS position with Martinez as the only long term possible committment. Maybe the commissioner steps in, so a smaller deal is may have to be worked out.

The RS without Sale are non-contenders in 2020. They need a cheap young pitcher like Grey. Only Martinez and Perez are non-free agents. Perez has an option and Martinez has an opt-out. This trade is not totally realistic, but much a smaller version is quite possible. Why not use all trade chips?
