    I think the only thing that stops this is that the Rays may not want to pay the salary of Vazquez.

    My understanding from Rays fans is that Tampa Bay’s ownership and front office greatly prefer cost controlled players.

    Otherwise, this works!

      Yeah Tampa does inexplicably keep me out of their budget loop talks, But they did try to acquire Vazquez as recently as August, and his contract has not changed much since then. With Zunino leaving for free agency, I think they might find it difficult to upgrade over him for much less money than Vazquez makes.

    If the Rays could include Kiermaier in the deal (to BOS), they could save money and get Vaz, but they’d also need to give something more to the Sox- maybe Stallings and Newman or Swaggerty?
