I’m against the A’s trading Chapman but I saw a couple proposals that got me thinking.

At some point the Cardinals are going to move on from Molina so Contreras makes since as someone who could be in the line-up in 2021.

Oakland needs a SS and can pencil in Sheldon Neuse at 3B, giving them a Puncher’s Chance to contend in 2021. I probably like Waters more than I should but oh well. I think Webb and Wilson can play roles in Oakland’s bullpen and rotation immediately.

Atlanta wants a big bat and a defensive upgrade at 3B, which would allow them to move Riley to the OF.

I’m going to thumbs-up, but I think the Cards are going to pass on this. I see that DeJong was more than just subpar last year, but some projections still see him as their best player. I’m surprised at how frequently I see him of these boards. Who plays SS for them, in this scenario? And is Contreras ready to step in behind the plate?

Excellent questions and I don’t have the answers.

Any Cards fans willing to chime in?
