I realize the Cubs are unlikely to send Bryant in division but if they pay a portion of his salary they can get a more interesting return and obviously the Brewers need help at 3rd.
I just don’t see the Brewers taking back that salary
In this trade I have the Cubs paying 10 mil of this projected 19 so Bryant for 9 million is something the Brewers should be able to handle while still being well below not only 2019 payroll but also below 2020.
The biggest problem is Bryant is a one year rental. That and increasing payroll for a rental is not something they would ever do in a trade for Hader.
They are getting 10 million back in this trade, which means they would only have to pay 8 million. Trade a guy like Hader and their payroll only increases 3 million dollars.
