This trade definitely makes sense. Top 100 SS prospect that is blocked, a top pitching prospect 1 MLB SP plus a throw in. Cubs also save over $30M. How is this bad move for either team.

Looks like the Jays are over paying, 2 of their top 5 prospects and an MLB catcher for a low velo pitcher and 1 year control of Bryant.

I think you need to do your homework on Hendricks. Affordable, controllable and consistently effective.

AL EAST is a different beast. However, I never said that I would be against acquiring Hendricks. I just think this is an overpayment.

Thats a fair point. Marco Estrada made it work during the 15/16 seasons, and I see KH as a much more refined comparable. I agree, I think its teetering on the line of an overpayment but I dont see the Cubs moving him unless they get a haul like this.

Estrada was catching lightning in a bottle, could happen again for sure and Hendricks has the stuff to be that guy but its not a guarantee. Looking at the Pirates returns I think if this is bottom line what the cubs are looking for. Hendricks will be deadline bait for the Cubs come July.

Bryant is a shell of the player he once was. Blue Jays did much better and cheaper with Semien. Hendricks has had good numbers, but not great numbers. How does Hendricks have a trade value of 37.5 and Sonny Gray who has been much better in the NL Central than Hendricks and has a much more team friendly contract have a trade value of 29.5. These should be reversed.

Blue Jays would have been foolish to make this trade and with Semien it is a moot point.
