Just posting this real-life trade. Appears to be a fair deal, within the normal margin of error for our model. Mets clear some money, mostly, and the Blue Jays clear some 40-man roster space.
Mets desperately needed pitching depth for the upper minors, so this helps. And yeah, looks like the Jays were full on the 40-man, so this clears a spot for Semien.
Tigers need to investigate a Boyd and/or Norris trade if this goes through.. Free agency is lingering, and zero talks on extension..
It really is amazing just how much pitching depth the Jays have. Their entire projected starting rotation could go down with injuries and they would still enough to refill the rotation even after this trade. Outfield depth on the other hand…
On the other hand, this move narrows down the Mets lefty options, with Peterson, Lucchesi and the freshly signed Loup being the only MLB caliber options (unless you think Tarpley and Zamora are capable). Signing McGee or resigning Shreve or Wilson could be next on the books.
Damn! I hadn’t heard the Mets signed Loup. I assumed the Rays would be able to resign him.
Slim pickings in the LHRP free agent pool at this point. Maybe Chafin?
I like this trade like it did happen in real life but blue jays get an arm that can be decent for some pitching depth. Mets clear some money and get upper minors pitching depth. Jays have lots of pitching depth get a major league arm that can be decent.
I don’t get why the Jays gave up SRF. Reid-Foley seems a lot more valuable and is more useful in the majors
