With the Benintendi trading this year, the Betts trading last year, and the strength of the rest of the division, the Red Sox look like they’re selling their best guys. Chavis, Barnes, and Vazquez are the 3 likeliest guys to get traded, and this trade allows them to sell them, and get 4 guys to build their future team with. The Benintendi trade netted the 5 guys, however, 3 of those are PBNLS, so they aren’t gonna be high-level players. The Indians are still looking to trade Rosario, and the Red still need a SS after losing out on the Villar sweepstakes. The Reds also could use a catcher, with Tucker Barnhart being good, but not great. The Indians get Barnes to make up for the loss in their bullpen they took this offseason, losing Hand, Perez, and Cimber, plus more. This trade answers the 3 teams’ biggest needs and allows the Red Sox to get more guys to go towards their future. Thoughts?
