I haven’t seen another Rays trade today. You mean the signing of Drake to a major league deal and putting him on IL until mid-summer? Yeah, I don’t get the logic of trading Curtiss just so the Rays can stash Drake on IL, which means they probably wanted to move Curtiss regardless. Drake pitched well in 19 and a lot of Rays fans thought he might be the 2020 set up guy for Anderson. Injuries derailed that plan and continue to derail his career.

On paper this looks like a win for the Marlins, but we know the Rays are smart. Miami wanted to bolster the bullpen during the offseason. They got Floro, Bass, Cimber and Curtiss, not bad. The Rays have a lot of potencial starters, so they can afford to trade a reliever for a hitting prospect while opening a spot on the 40 man roster.
