It looks like Gimenez won the SS job for the Cleveland Indians. He was the main piece in the Lindor/Carrasco trade. Cleveland is not trading him.

But they did also get Rosario in that trade with the mets and they have said previously that they aren’t looking to have him move positions, as they already have a lot of OF’ers and have Hernandez at second. But they do need young quality starters, and at this point, a young pitcher and the 2 prospects are probably worth more to them than a quality shortstop.

Rosario played CF in a B game yesterday against the Reds. He will continue to get opportunities in the OF. Gimenez is the Cleveland SS. The Cleveland farm has been excellent developing young starters from their system. Bats are more important than young pitchers for the Indians. Gimenez will stay in Cleveland.

  3. Big Bat

You’re asking Cleveland to give the most valuable player by far in this deal and come up on the short end of the value. That’s not going to happen nor should it for any team.

  4. Mets5002

I understand your point, but in no universe Is Andres Gimenez better than Shane Bieber.

Mets5002, What Big Bat said was that Gimenez was the most valuable player by far in this deal. Shane Bieber was not in this deal. Gimenez was the main piece in the Lindor trade. Cleveland is not trading him.
