Trevor Story will not be in Colorado come next summer. It’s a fact. Gleyber Torres has shown so far why the Yankees were trying to trade for Lindor. He’s not playing well. If anyone has a shot at re-signing Story, it’d be the Yankees, and they’d be inclined to do the move now based on how horrendously they’re playing. The Yankees would have to give up a moderate package to get Story, and the pieces the Rockies would receive would help push the rebuild faster. Garcia would be a guy that can play now, whereas Breaux, Volpe, and Abreu are a little farther off. Cron could help fill the role that Jay Bruce left, at least until Luke Voit returns, but even when he returns, it’d be nice to have a dependable guy coming off the bench to give the oft-injured Voit some rest. Thoughts?

The Yanks would not make a trade which would put them over the Luxury Tx ap, which this trade surely would do.
