The Braves would love to have Haniger. But I’m not sure that Langeliers is available. And even if he is, if Seattle is looking for immediate help at catcher (and it looks like they are), Langeliers is not that; he just got promoted to AA this spring.

idk if atlanta would move on from a top 100 prospect catcher with an ETA of 2022 for a 30 year old, especially if they aren’t in a playoff spot at the deadline, unless they really like contreras

Guys, the Mariners have a catcher in AAA who is the same age as Joey Bart and considering environment has outperformed him at every level since they were both drafted a few years ago. Bart gets the love because he was taken 2nd overall and Raleigh was taken in the 3rd round, but Raleigh is hitting .360 with a 1.100 OPS, he’s taking walks, controlling the strike zone, hitting for power and he’s a switch hitter with production coming from both sides of the plate and scouts talk about how underrated his catching is now and that he’ll only get better. Murphy has hit 5 HRs in the last two weeks, so no, the Mariners don’t need a catcher. The Braves also have no long term solution at that position and it might be the only position they aren’t willing to move a prospect.

Nice idea but Cal Raleigh exists and Braves may also opt to use Shae Langliers late this season depending upon injuries and William Contreras

Contreras has had some defense issues, but he’s hitting. Still, these days, you pretty much need two catchers. Thinking among Braves fans is to get Langeliers up to AAA this year, and then next year he and Contreras will become a catching tandem, kind of like Tyler Flowers and Kurt Suzuki were a few years ago.
