This trade is based on farm weakness/ strength & MLB team needs

Gorman is LHB/3B eta 2022 but blocked for yrs by Arenado, Edman, and Walker.

Cartaya , eta 2023, is blocked by Smith & Barnes for LAD.

    Both headliners are T-55

LH Swing P Victor Gonz balances out SV of trade.

Beaty is a LH bench bat with some power for a needy Card offense.

Not a bad trade concept at all but I can’t go for it. If Cartaya were closer to MLB ready by 2023 it would be more interesting. Cards have Herrera in that time frame but he may or may not work out.

Gorman seems like more of a fairly sure thing while Cartaya is more of an unknown hope. Not sure why their values are so close but admittedly I know little of Cartaya. Cards do need Gorman’s LH bat at 2B or even as 4th OF and won’t want to give that up easily.

Beaty is not interesting but Victor Gonzalez could provide value in the Cards pen. He was a good choice to include.
