Featured. I like the change of scenery angle here for each of these stock-droppers.

Yea, I really like Downs & thought that he should of been (& happy that he was) part of the Betts trade. I believe he’ll be fine after a bit of an off season last year in AAA. Keller (another high pick, Downs I think top 40 in ‘17 & Keller top 70 in ‘14) I liked when he was drafted & have somewhat followed over time. I think (hope) the Sox can use him & get the best out of him. I still think there is tremendous potential there. Downs too for that matter. Thanks for the feature.

If you check MiLB game-by-game stats, it looks as if the WooSox hitters all got off to a bad start–likely due to weather, plus an unanticipated home ballpark bias to pitchers–and that Downs later played through an injury when he should’ve spent weeks on the IL. His September stats looked OK, and he’s young for AAA–he’ll be a good MLB player, maybe better. But the Red Sox are set for middle infield in 2022, and Nick Yorke and Marcelo Mayer will be ready in 2023-late 2024. Downs could help the Pirates now.

Mitch Keller seems to have a freakish deviation of performance by home plate umpire. I note that his ERA suffers badly without Jacob Stallings calling pitches–I bet that he’d benefit greatly from having Plawecki catching his starts, SB be damned.

        Good trade concept.

How does a person look up a long ago trade if a person comments on it?

Not much the Pirates need less than MIFers likely to end up at 2B and at least Keller looks good in the upper minors whereas Downs can’t even put up good numbers in AAA. No thank you. Nick Gonzales, Bae, Castro, Escotto, Cole Tucker, Hoy Park, Michael Chavis, Diego Castillo, etc etc etc.
