Yankees get their short term SS solution in Trea Turner awaiting the arrival of top prospect Anthony Volpe. They could re-sign Turner and move him to 3B eventually when Volpe is ready if they want as they’ll be shedding $32M after this season with Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton’s expiring contracts.

The Dodgers get a little salary relief, a top prospect in Peraza to replace one of the ones they spent to acquire Turner, and a two time All Star that needs a change of scenery but could help replace some of Turner’s lost production by playing 2B for the Dodgers. Gavin Lux would be their everyday SS and Chris Taylor slides into the super utility role he’s been exceptional at in Los Angeles. Medina is the type of live arm that the Dodgers have turned into exceptional major leaguers for decades.

The new CBA may determine whether or not the Dodgers will even think about a move like this. If the penalties become harsher, or a firm cap is in place, they will need to do a lot of shuffling and the likelihood of them signing him long term diminishes. Therefore, a trade would make a bunch of sense.

Dodgers FO cannot answer the phone because they are doubled over in laughter after they hear of this proposal.
