    I suppose it’s possible the Rays would trade Walls and Gaston for 1 year of a top pitcher, while swapping 1 year of Glasnow for Montas’ other year. I do think adding a top 3 pitcher to the Rays rotation would pay a lot of dividends to the Rays. That said, I also think Gaston will have a good year and see his value jump in 2022, and that Walls will play a huge role for the Rays in 2022. Giving up Walls in particular might hurt the Rays as much as adding Montas might help.

    I’d pass on this deal, but it’s a very close call for me. Having 2 years of Montas basically solidifies the Rays’ rotation for the next 2 years at a high level.
