Another out-of-options move. Beede still has an intriguing skillset, but he’s gonna be squeezed out of the Giants 40-man roster. Oakland would be a good fit, as it doesn’t seem like their interested in winning. If he’s good, they get him for 4 years. If he’s not, you cut him and it cost them nothing.
The A’s have 39 on the 40 man, I think they want to keep that spot open for a bat. If Honeywell doesn’t show enough to stick then maybe the A’s could swing back around to Beede.
I think Beede would get claimed by someone, and possibly even stay in the NL, so a trade would be the only route for Oakland, IMO.
If Oakland is keeping that spot open for a hitter, then yeah, Beede doesn’t make sense. But I figured Oakland is a good spot for an out-of-options pitcher.
