Trade is part of a series of corresponding moves, I’ll some it up here:

    Padres lose:
    Campusano (catching prospect)
    Lamet (Good upside righty)
Ona (Upside strikeout power bat for the future)
    Lizarraga (Projectable)
    Baez (Upside Righty)
Grisham (future all star and GG center fielder)
Gasser Rosario and Knehr (all current replacement level players with upside of good roleplayers in the future)

    Padres Get:
Alcala and Duran (fills the role of lamet and Knehr as very good bullpen pieces with projectability)
Sano (Current strikeout power bat on a bad contract, replaces Ona but not in the future)
Contreras (Catcher for now, probably trade Nola or Alfaro for either cash or 4th outfielder, or to get rid of hosmer or myers)
Happ (replaces grisham, but not as good)
Cruz (Good Dh, one padres dont have, cash represents the value I think Cruz has)
    Bell (Good first base)
Ruiz (catcher for the future once contreras leaves, fills Campys role)
