I’d rather the O’s just stay the course with their prospects, unless they get a controllable ML starter. Plus Villar wouldn’t be on my list (Urias already has his spot). Don’t like the overpay. So it would be 2 months of Syndergaard for Trimble. Not crazy about it.

I agree. But Joey Ortiz and Reed Trimble are on the lower end of prospects and the O’s wouldn’t have room for them anyways. They are ranked 13th and 21st in the O’s system and they’re both not doing well in the minors. The infield and outfield is loaded with higher end talent. These guys would never get a fair shot. A small price to pay for a reliable starter Syndergaard and solid utility guy in Villar who played great in Baltimore a few years ago. Plus, it shows the other guys in the club house you’re serious about contending. Super low risk, high reward type move.

I loved Villar as an Oriole, wished they had re-signed him. Syndergaard has pitched well this year. I can certainly respect your proposal.

I agree about Joey Ortiz, I don’t think he’s going to hit, so it looks like he will become “organizational depth.” Reed Trimble has been hurt. I still haven’t seen him playing in 2022 at the FCL or Delmarva. He was 2nd round pick, I think we need to see what we have once he’s ready to play.

Is “bdillman” a reference to Bill Dillman, Oriole curveballer from 1967 who started the season 4-0, and then the AL caught up with him? We were all trying to throw his curveball when we played “Wallball.”

I have a feeling Snydergaard’s value is much higher than what this site suggests. There’s no way you could land a good #3 starter for so little in return. Even if he’s just a rental.

I’ve just been following these guys on mlbpipeline, so I’ll admit I don’t know much more than what is said about them on that site. On paper, they seem like good trade pieces since they’re kind of blocked from reaching the majors with all the talent in front of them.

bdillman is not in reference to Bill Dillman. lol. It’s just by first initial and last name. As far as I know, I’m not related to any former professional athlete. I’ll have to look him up.
