Sadly, I find it much more likely the A’s will target this kind of return than anything featuring Valera or Gavin Williams.

This is closer to what Cleveland may offer minus a player or two… Martinez and Morris won’t be available in this. It would have to be Tena and Curry…

Also Allen, Arias and Freeman are all top 100 prospects, so the return isn’t as bad as you think.

Tena is a No. Curry is kinda interesting.

Since this is deadline day… looking at Arias, I just can’t see buying him when he’s been under the Mendoza line since he came back from injury. Maybe he can regain some shine in August and September. I don’t think the A’s deal Murphy today so hopefully Arias can get back on track for the winter.

Down vote for Oakland. I’m afraid kingcong95 is right, this does look like some of the crap deals the A’s have pulled off recently. But I’ve gotta have hope that eventually they’ll stop being stupid.

The A’s need outfielders and corner bats and high-ceiling pitchers and this deal centers around 3 middle infielders.

I respect the argument that Cleveland has a hot prospect behind the plate and are content to wait for him to come up in 2023. But if the Guardians are serious about Murphy then they have to be willing to meet the A’s needs and this deal isn’t close to doing that.
