Like Groundhog Day, I’m pretending it’s Deadline Day all over again. Trade that should have been made. Hate to part with Freeman and Williams, but need to improve at C and CF.

    Fire Jed Hoyer!

Don’t like this trade they should not have traded for Ramon which they didn’t I like Murphy being traded to guardians but I don’t like the package you have no freeman no jones no straw the package if they went and got Murphy which i think they should have would be Williams, Roochio, and halpin

I’m not as sold on Jones, as you. Signing Straw was a mistake, imo. I like Freeman a lot. Maybe you’re right. Just go after Murphy.

I think arias will be better than roochio by far and they are both middle infielders and in the mlb they already have a good middle infield so trade roochio keep arias

I’m still learning Guardians farm system. Switching teams from Cubs to Cleveland. See if Sports Coach, JMF, Big Bat, etc., will let me join the club.

      Fire Jed Hoyer!

Come on board if you like. It’s a good time to be a Guardians fan. They’ve already promoted a lot of good young talent and they have one, if not the best farm systems in baseball with much of that talent in the upper levels.

What do you want to know about the Guardians’ farm system? Be glad to help or point you in the right direction. I’ll start by telling you that Cleveland values Williams way more than this site. The same thing happened with Espino. It’s not this site’s fault as they are only dealing with the information available through a couple of scouting outlets. There’s another SP prospect to keep your eye on and his name is Tanner Bibee. Those are the 3 big SP prospects right now, but there is another one coming up too so stay tuned.

I agree that the Straw extension looks like a mistake in hindsight. The biggest reason for me is Will Brennan. Take a look at what he’s doing and what he has done. He’s plays excellent CF defense even if not quite on Straw’s level as few can. What he can do is hit like Kwan and has a bit more power. I happen to believe that at 24 yrs old, being 6′ and 200lbs that he is about to see a good number of his doubles go over the fence. If it were me I would have dealt Straw back to Houston and promoted Brennan, but it’s not unfortunately.

The chance of Arias failing is far greater than Rocchio, but his ceiling is a bit higher in the power department. Both are excellent defensively with Arias having one of the strongest arms in all the minors. Arias needs to cut down on the swing and miss tendencies, but he’s very young and performed exceptionally well for a 21 yr old in AAA last season. Especially when you consider he skipped AA altogether.

I think Freeman is up with the big club now. He is the one player that I think is “Can’t Miss.” I like both Bibee and Williams a lot. Never looked hard at Arias and Rocchio because they never made sense for Cubs. Ditto for Benson, but it sounds like he’s tearing it up.

Wonder if Yanks looked in on Straw before making the terrible Bader deal. I think Guards should have coughed up a few prospects and gone for Murphy. Problem is they would have wanted to include either Naylor or Lavastida in the deal and A’s are loaded with catching prospects. Would have taken third team and it gets complicated.

Back to stupid Jed Hoyer. He should have moved more quickly. There was no advantage in waiting to the end of the deadline in trading Contreras, who suddenly is hot as hell. Once the Astros, Rays and O’s made their deal, it was down to the Mets, who got burned last year and weren’t gonna let it happen again. Contreras would have been a better fit than Ruf. In the end it shudda been Allan and Smith for Contreras, but both GMs couldn’t get past their egos.

It’s been fun being a Guardians fan this past week, but I am still a Cubbie at heart. So it’s “root, root, root for the Cubbies and fire Jed Hoyer,”
