Seems like a solid return for the A’s. Garcia was great in AAA this year, and has actually been pretty good in Philly, aside from 3 horrible outings that blew up his numbers (out of 18 appearances). Still only 22, and should have at least one more option year for 2020, so nice flexibility. Santos is a ways off, not sure if he’ll stick as a starter, but he’s only 18 and the numbers are encouraging.
I’m not sure Grossman is a perfect fit for Philly though. They need outfield depth, but primarily in center field. He’s not going to take many innings from Harper or Bruce unless one of them gets hurt. And while Grossman can play a little center, you don’t want to run him out there every day. He’d be a good pinch hitter against righties though.
Yeah, I think it’s more likely that Grossman goes at the lower end of his range, so this package seems a touch steep. And I agree that he’s not totally a fit for Philly. On the other hand, there aren’t many CF types available this summer, so this could work.
