This wipes out a big chunk of the A’s farm, but at least it would be for two impact guys who are controllable beyond this year. I still wouldn’t do this one if I’m the A’s, though.
Neuse is blocked by Chapman, Mateo and Barreto are similar so I think one will be moved, Beck is years away and has poor plate discipline, Jeffries and Holmes project as reliever so giving them up for an All Star level closer in Greene lessens the sting of trading them.
Also, all our AAA hitters in Vegas have inflated stats playing in that bandbox.

I’m not too sure either side does this deal. I definitely agree that Neuse and one of Barreto/Mateo are obvious trade chips for the A’s, but I think the team is pretty high on Beck and Jefferies. Neither of Greene/Boyd have much of a track record, and I think the A’s would rather make smaller additions (Tanner Roark, Ken Giles, etc.)
For the Tigers, I think they’d want a true headliner for Boyd (and especially if they’re including Greene). Barreto hasn’t shown much in the majors, and Beck has upside but he’s also striking out 35% of the time in High-A. I know their system is a little light on hitting, think they’d rather have quality than quantity in a Boyd deal.

Perfect trade suggestion because i went back on forth on it for quite some time.
I think Detroit would want one prospect with better odds of making it as a quality everyday player. Although there’s lots of intriguing talent.
For the A’s Boyd would be a good add for 2019 and would be a good insurance policy if Luzardo, Puk and/or Manaea recoveries have a major set back.
Biggest difference with Boyd is his greatly improved control. Looks like improved control goes back to last year in July.
If A’s I would do it.
