I had to include Volpe for the site to take the trade. However, swap Volpe for Peraza/Schmidt. This is an accumulation of trade ideas from. Mr. Dodger – Josh L – UYF1950.. What do you guys think?
Drop Volpe, send Cartaya to Brewers, eliminate Yanks from deal.
Shane: In my comments I mentioned the only reason I had Volpe there was the site wouldn’t take Peraza/Schmidt. So those two would be added instead of Volpe. So basically the Yankees get Cartaya for Peraza and Schmidt.
Jmont1.. I like the deal for all teams. I personally would rather have Miller over Pepiot/Stone if I’m the Brewers, but this would work. If Cartaya is what the Dodgers think he is, he would be the Yankee catcher for a long while. With their money they can easily afford to lose Peraza and Schmidt. The Dodgers get even better if that’s possible. The Brewers get a good prospect to compete with Turang for the SS job, a good pen arm, and a couple of options to replace Burnes. They have to hope Vargas has the skills to stick at 3B.

I think the Brewers would make this trade for all the reasons mentioned above.
I think the Yankees have to love Cartaya to make this trade since they are considering starting Volpe at SS. However, they do have another top prospect SS so they could make Volpe is available in order to get Cartaya.
I think the Dodgers turn this trade down. I believe they would rather pay big money to get one of the 4 top Free Agent shortstops than to give up all these players. Burnes could be a difference maker, but this is a big price to pay in control and talent. They only have Burnes for 2 years. Sure, the Dodgers can afford to extend his contract if Burnes is willing, but the Dodgers can also wait 2 years and sign him then without giving up all this control and talent. I think the Dodgers have enough pitching depth by keeping their own players to still win the NL West without trading for Burnes.
