  1. Any trade of Trevor Bauer during this season has to help during this season as well as the future. How does this trade do that? Andujar is out for the year and you want to weaken Cleveland’s hitting even further by taking Santana. As an Indian fan, I hope that we don’t give up on 2019 as we are solid in contention for a playoff spot. This trade would signal that they are giving up on 2019.

I mean yes this trade proposal fully assumes that the Indians will end up winning just 6 out of 18 games after the AS break which is unlikely given their easy schedule following the break. Not saying that they are personally, just what could happen. Also trading Santana means the Indians can unload his contract.

I think any proposal around Bauer is done so with the idea that the Indians are looking to get near term help with longer control than the 2 years Bauer has.

The Indians aren’t going to get better now AND in the future with a Bauer trade. Any complaints about trades that don’t accomplish that should be directed to Indians ownership.
