    I don’t think DeSclafani quite fits the mold of the front-line arm the Red Sox are looking for. If they’re moving a guy with Duran’s helium, it’s probably in a deal for a higher-upside rental like Bumgarner.

      “Helium” in this case seems like a concise way of saying “crazy high BABIP in A ball.” Dealing Duran for Bumgarner would get the Sox another LHSP whose best days are in the rear view mirror, and only for 3 months with no draft pick comp. DeSclafani has the additional year of control, allowing him to replace Porcello next season for a much lower cost. That has value to an organization with a dangerously high payroll.
