Randy is a left fielder. That is a position already filled for a few years. Trading the team’s top prospect and its likely closer for a player with no position may not be craftiest move Dombrowski could make.
To what? He’s in Left field because the Rays don’t see him in CF or RF, both pf which are occupied at CBP. The infield is full, unless you can make a case that Randy is a step up from Trea Turner. His best tool is his bat, so putting him in the starting rotation or the ‘pen wouldn’t work either.
