I still think Quantrill is terribly undervalued here, but I’d make this deal. The only hesitation I have is the Cardinals giving up Liberatore and Graceffo. I don’t know if they’d do that for Civale and Rosario.
O’s fan would agree to this deal. Quantrill is a solid starter; hate to lose Connor Norby, he just got listed on the Top 100 of Baseball America.
BUT the O’s have too many middle infielders, and somebody has to go. Seems like a fair deal if the Guardians are looking for a potential power bat at 2B.
Thanks for the reply and I agree that Quantrill would be a good add for Baltimore at the cost of a player from a position of organizational depth. My thought line was that if Rosario goes to St. Louis then Gimenez can slide over to SS while Norby takes over 2B. The problem with this would be Arias who needs to be given an opportunity because he’s ready and has a lot of upside on both sides of the ball. Has Norby ever played CF?
No. No mention of him ever playing CF. He played mostly 2B and 11 games in LF in 2022 in the Minors. I don’t think he’s a naturally gifted fielder. In a college summer league he played 3B, nothing there in pro ball. But he is one of the better hitters in the O’s system.
Thanks!
