MIL: I’m tired of repeating myself about the fractured relationship between Burnes and the Brewers. Let’s skip to the players they are getting.
Houck and Whitlock are young controllable established pitchers with high floors. They instantly slot into the rotation or bullpen. Cedenne Rafaela was a breakout prospect last year and shot up top 100 lists. He is listed as on outfielder, but he plays 2B and 3B as well. He will be special in a few years. Nick Yorke has fallen far from his top prospect and top 100 standing but is almost MLB ready. He is a good cannidate for a bounce back, issue forcing season where he reminds us of why he was once at the top of red sox prospect lists.
Ive gotten a bunch of comments on how my trade focus too much on the future and not enough on win now, which people think the Brewers would prioritize. So this trade covers both timelines.
BOS: They have had a weird offseason(not as weird as the Giants but weird all the same) that left people asking where they currently are. Not rebuilding but not good enough to contend. Burnes would improve the rotation and rebuild severed relationships with a die hard fan base. They also could find a way not to give up Mayer or Bello. This trade is one they should do
questions, comments, conversation welcome. I will try to reply to everyone.
This would all depend on how the Brewers felt about Whitlock. He obviously looked better in the big leagues than in the minors. Houck is a decent long man, emergency starter. It’s possible Milwaukee would take the deal minus Yorke (Jordan replaces him), but IMO, If the Red Sox kept Rafaela/Yorke and swapped in Schreiber/Jordan I think Milwaukee would take the deal and probably throw in Cousins or Small.
perhaps, although I think they’d want one of the top prospects the Sox have to offer. I think they want York, so if they want bullpen help they can go Schrieber. But I think that they would want Rafaela instead of Jordan. They play pretty much the same positions so its would be who they think will be better, and like the majority of people I think they chose Rafaela
You’re right about Rafaela over Jordan, but to get Schreiber the Brewers would take the lesser player (Jordan) and give back Rafaela. The Brewers have Turang and Black so they would gladly give up Yorke too if it meant getting Schreiber.
true, although idk who the sox would rather give up. I guess a schreiber, jordan, houck, whitlock trade would work. or even a houck, whitlack, schreiber only if the Brewers want those guys bad enough
