No thanks as a fan of the Atlanta Braves. I’m very bullish about the team and see no good fit for shortstop Liover Peguero.

Getting him for minor league depth? I like Orlando Arcia off the bench in 2023 and there’s a $2MM club option in 2024. He was a league-average bat in ’22 and, over the past 5 years, he’s been known for his good defense. Maybe Arcia sucks this year but I’m with the projections that he’s going to get a lot more PA’s in this coming season and will rise to the occasion.

This isn’t to be taking anything away from rookie Vaughn Grissom. Grissom’s always been known for his bat and I have high hopes that he’ll be serviceable at SS. I’m hoping that it all works out and he’s in the Majors for years to come.

Liover Peguero is listed as a shortstop on this site. I hadn’t ever heard of this guy so I did some quick online reading. It sounds to me like he’s going to be 2B in AAA the Indianapolis Indians. Is that team name gonna change too? I think it should but just because it’s as unimaginative as the Philadelphia Phillies. And staying on top with things that miss their mark, Peguero had lots of errors over the past two seasons. I suspect that there’s a factor to consider in that he looks like a very athletic player so maybe he’s getting to the baseball more often than most. But still … it’s a lot of errors. So Peguero to take over 2B when Ozzie goes to SS in 2024, right?

Ian Anderson is one of the Braves that’s been most often listed in trade proposals on this site and I’ve concocted plenty of trades involving him. However, most of those are from when the Braves had other young arms like Muller, Davidson, Ynoa (healthy) Toussaint, etc. I think Anderson’s viable for the 5th spot in 2023. If he’s between Gwinnett and Truist then so be it. He’s been used like that in the past, making 46 starts in the past two years combined. The Braves don’t have a whole lot of other players they can use like this and that’s valuable.

A young promising prospect with still some polishing to do isn’t a good fit for the Braves whereas a 6th starter with nearly 300 IP in the Majors is. dajuba, you have a few trade proposals on this site that I think are great ideas. Some of them though, I just don’t get. This one is of the latter sort.
