Paul Blackburn tore the nail off his middle finger, will be tough to count on him starting the season, so the A’s need SP’s even more.
Offering the A’s a 25-command kid for him, whose never even been to Low A and the evaluation is that he’s 4 years away from being a backend starter … No.
Ooof didn’t know that about Blackburn but A’s don’t care about competing at all. They’ll figure something out if Blackburn is traded away or isn’t available.
Serna is 18 lol he’ll be in Low A/High A as a 19 year old. How is that an issue? If he turns into a backend starter in 4 years, he’ll be 22 as a 4/5 starter. That would be a great steal for the A’s

Also I’m not familiar with the term 25-command.
Scouting grades. The scale is 20-80, 50 being average. (“20 speed” is almost always a catcher or DH … think Billy Butler).
25 command is also termed “fringe minus minus”. Fringe because it’s on the fringe between minusminus and minusminusMINUS. It’s bad.
I’m not seeing where he has that low of a command grade but he’s still only 18. Lot’s of young guys struggle with command and turn it around.
