Suzuki has a lifetime OPS of .790 compared to Nimmo at .825, but he is on a much lower annual contract. Nimmo plays center, but is better suited for a corner outfield spot, like Suzuki. Look at the disparity in the evaluations. Cubs have to throw in arguably the best lefthander in NL, Steele (who is undervalued, as well), to complete deal. Once again, BTV evaluations of Cubs Players seem way low, imo.
Downvote for Chicago. Nimmo won’t work as well as he has as the lead off for the Mets anywhere else. I think most teams see this (Chicago included of course). Furthermore, the cubs may be competing for a playoff spot this year. Steele is way to big of a piece to their success for this trade to happen (it would be different if he were just a small piece). For either of those reasons, I think the cubs, maybe even the Mets, decline. Just my opinion though. Have a good day.
I wouldn’t do the deal either if I were Chicago. My point in making this trade is the highlight what I consider a disparity in the evaluations of the Cubs and Mets players, according to BTV. The Mets would be nuts to decline this offer in my opinion. Good day to you as well.
