The Yankees get another outfielder in case, you know, the outfield continues to suck, while the Tigers get a 3B that they sorely need while also getting part of the cost footed by the Yankees and another good bullpen arm. The Yankees get something for Donaldson and don’t have to eat all of Donaldson’s dead money (if I’m not mistaken, they save $10 million by taking this deal), while getting Vierling to shore up the outfield depth roles, while the Tigers get a 3B who has been historically good and could potentially bounce back, while also getting a good relief piece and some of Donaldson’s bill footed by the Yankees.
