    Acquiring 2+ months of Grandal makes zero sense for the Mets. But given they’re recent rumors, that makes it more realistic.

    Assuming no one would disagree on the Brewers taking this hypothetical offer since they want to move Grandal for an SP, Here’s my thinking on why the Mets might do it:
    – They get the Ramos contract off the books. Despite his solid production offensively, he’s really struggled with the Mets due to his defense and the fact that deGrom-Syndergaard don’t want to throw to him.
    – Bringing in Grandal gives the Mets a head-start and a small built-in advantage when it comes to negotiating an extension. We know he was their top target from last year and feel like he really got away from them.
    However, maybe the Brewers would have to add a mid-level prospect if they wanted to get this type of deal done.
