On November 18, 2023, the New York Mets will trade Brandon Nimmo, Starling Marte, David Peterson, minor-league infielders Jett Williams and Ronny Mauricio, and cash considerations to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Justin Steele and Mark Leiter Jr.

Not a chance. Beyond the fact the Cubs don’t need a SS and likely won’t for 4-5 years, trading a potential #1 SP is a great way to lose your job. Leiter could be moved, but not until the Cubs can get another lefty or two up to do what he does…erasing lefties.

I think the Cubs may indeed package their own SS prospect (Howard) with his elite glove and move him to a team in need.
