I’m somewhat confused by this proposal. What’s the thought process?
I’m a fan of the Braves. I don’t see why they’d be trading for Gabe Speier now. He’s looked good in 2023. I’m sticking with AJ Minter and Dylan Lee as LHRP for 2024. Speier’s good, but he’s not at their level.
The Braves are pretty packed with guys in the bullpen and until the roster expands I expect they’ll be making up phantom injuries in order to rest guys. Trade away Brad Hand and make room. But aside from when the Mets got him and the Pirates, and he got outplayed in PIT, he’s prob like a run over a month and a half. I like how he’s looked for the Braves and feel like it was a smart trade for them.
In general, I don’t like the idea of trading a young position player like Vaughn Grissom for a relief pitcher and it’s out of touch with realities for the Trades to be getting a relief pitcher who’s free agent at the end of this season.
I’m probably missing something that’ll help make sense of this. Post a comment and let me know.
