We have so many players for the MIF even if we traded Freeman… We have no spit for Rengifo at the end of the day…

Also, I am looking at the Giants roster… They have a lot of older SPs so I don’t feel like they would be as open to moving Winn and Black as you believe. I actually think the pitcher we will end up targeting is actually Whitman, who is from Akron, Ohio… Then get a guy like Rayner Arias…

Rengifo would only be used in the IF if needed, he would be used in the OF. He can play all 3 OF spots and is a better hitter than every OFer currently on the roster. He also mashes LHP.

So 300 innings in the OF makes him an OF?

He has two years of control left and will likely have an off season rehabbing a ruptured tendon in his bicep…

I wouldn’t do this if I was the Giants… They need the young arms…

300 innings is plenty and athletes like him don’t need that many to make the transition. The Angels should be looking to rebuild/retool so a guy like Rengifo could be moved or they could look to keep him around because he is becoming a very valuable player.

Clearly you haven’t read any articles on his injury. Let me help you.

“Despite the tough diagnosis, Rengifo remained upbeat and doesn’t expect the injury to impact his offseason substantially. He said that he expects to be back healthy and ready to go for Spring Training.”

“Rengifo expects to be ready by spring training. He said the plan is to focus on healing, then rehab and potentially start his normal offseason routine by late December.”

The Giants have a good amount of SP depth. Webb, Cobb, Harrison, Stripling, Wood, Manaea, Winn, Whisenhunt, Black and don’t forget about your beloved Whitmore. Might be a good place for Quantrill or Bieber to end up as well. So there ya go, Freeman and Quantrill to the Giants and the details can be worked out.

The problem with this deal is that SF would likely want Rengifo.

            It’s Whitman* btw…

You also aren’t looking at the 24 picture for the Giants Pitchers…

Cobb is 35, with an injury history… Wood is a FA, Stripling is going to be 34, coming off an injury and bad season… Manaea can opt out of his contract and was mostly used out of the bullpen… DeSclafani may not even pitch in 24…

So… Giants cannot afford to trade a top SP that’s near MLB ready…

Does it make sense now, why I said they cannot trade Wisenhunt, Winn, Harrison and Black?

Giants are going to look to move a guy like Whitman, Crawford, Birdsong etc… since those guys aren’t likely to make their MLB debuts in 24… Just don’t look at the Giants roster…

Also, you are too obsessed with Rengifo… Cleveland is very unlikely of trading for him…

    • Big Bat

No it doesn’t make sense and the Giants have the wherewithal to sign or trade for another SP like Bieber or Quantrill. They need MIF help badly and there isn’t much in FA for the 24 season.

I know it’s Whitman. I was poking fun at you listing him as Whitmore originally.

I understand that the Guardians likely aren’t interested in trading for Rengifo. My point is that they should be and how am I too obsessed with him? He’s the type of hitter and player that I hold in high regard and he hasn’t entered his prime yet. Put him in one of the corner OF spots and move one of Kwan/Brennan to CF and we’re a better team instantly.

Would you agree that we struggle against LHP? If so then you need to take a look at Rengifo’s performance against them the last 2 seasons, but that isn’t the only reason to have interest in him. Switch hitter with some pop and a developing eye just about to enter his prime. Sign me up please.
