In this situation, the Phillies would get a 72 hour window to negotiate a contract extension, and for this situation Lindor signs the extension. Phillies also pay 7 million a year, for the next 3 years of Jean’s 14M/yr contract (21M total the Phillies are sending), and presumably the Indians decline the 4th year club option, which is worth 17M.

    • A Lindor trade at this time is not a money saver so this trade would never happen. The Indians will need to be overwhelmed with player value that can help in 2020 and beyond to move Lindor now. It is my belief that Lindor will be an Indian in 2020.

The Indians are believed to have 17 million to spend this offseason after all arbitrations are settled to fill in any offseason needs.

Lindor’s trade value as represented here is based on his present contract,if you want an extension agreed to before you will make the deal, the price would go up,quite a bit up.
As this trade sits, it’s not at all attractive to the Indians anyway.
