The Cardinals’s outfield sucks. Maybe Bradley and Hembree get them into a wild care status without much money committment. The RS could use Peraza, Chavis, and Pillar to replace Bradley in a shortened season. The RS rotation with Ryan Webber, Perez, and Brian Johnson as major options is embarrassing, but they had to rebuild.

Well, the Cardinals have Bader in CF, who is a monster defensively. That would suggest they’re not a fit for JBJ, whose strength is also CF defense.

John, I disagree with your assessment of this trade. Dexter Flowler is the downside of his career. The other alternatives can not compare with Bradley. Carlson and Hader are very good. Flowler could make a decent DH. The Red Sox would cover most of the costs, and Ponce de la Leon is replaceable for the Cardinals. The real question is how much do the Cardinals want to compete. I see trade as a minor win-win scenario.
