    I really don’t understand this for any of the teams involved.
    If the Rays want to make a win now move, I doubt it would be for pitching (especially a rental), which is a strength of theirs. Beer does not really move the needle for their embarrassingly deep farm system.
    The Mariners have a chance to be at least respectable before Crawford, Gonzales, and Sheffield hit free agency. It’s too early to trade any of them right now. Brujan and Carroll are nice prospects but too far away.
    And why are the Dbacks targeting Crawford as their primary return? Both of their starting middle infielders are locked up for a long time, and Crawford’s value is not maximized at third base.
