Creative trade for the Red Sox for so low of a trade value. Plus the Red Sox are onl giving up things that can easily replaced.

That’s what I was going for. The Red Sox actually have a lot of good pieces right now that just aren’t coming together because of the lack of starters. It’s a completely lost season as far as winning is concerned, so why not go out and get what you can get for the players who aren’t part of your future.

The way I see it, Moreland, Pillar, Martinez, Workman and Bradley should all be moved. I would also move Plawecki and possibly Hembree and Barnes. These guys would all help other clubs, and you should be able to bring back real value from most of them when another team deals from their surplus.

I was talking about swallowing a bad contract to get starting pitching. Too many trades here are either too complex and too small. Chatham, Chavis, and Bello are somewhat redundant. Jeter Downs,Wong, Mata, and Duran will be ready next year. Most of the next year starting free agents are pretty old. Devers should become a part-time DH. Resign Pillar and Workman. Do they exceed exceed the salary cap next year? The Red Sox have about 30 million in dead cap money.
