D’backs are also reportedly getting a PTBNL, estimated to be a minor piece. This trade looks fair.
Rosenthal is reporting that the third piece will be class-A pitcher Julio Frias, who is not in our system and is not considered a prospect. His value would be 0.1.
This model never ceases to amaze me. Props to you and BTV as a whole for creating such a useful tool in player evaluation.
Thank you very much! This comment made my day.
So is Arizona hoping to find Zac Gallen 2.0 here?
Caleb Smith was likely the best single asset they could get given the circumstances. They could not afford to pay Marte’s 12.5M next year, but that’s what they do expect Smith to make over 3 years of arby.
I also don’t think they were expecting Gallen to approach borderline ace status. That was a case of cashing in on a prospect whose K rate made him a high bust risk (Chisholm) for something that could help them in the short term.
